The Infrastructure Specialist for Cloud Platform in Data Center Department provides tier three support and implementation services for Cloud based infrastructure, storage, virtualization, monitoring, database and backup technologies across the enterprise for either AWS or Azure. Resolves and appropriately completes assigned cases and change requests and acts as an escalation point for support issues. Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with other teams and determines course of action for new application initiatives. Implements new Cloud solutions as required by the business for the benefit and support of enterprise wide initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
– Maintain & Administrate corporate-wide cloud environment (Azure / AWS based) mainly on platform level (Paas, IaaS)
– Operate and support Cloud based services on IaaS and PaaS levels, including but not being limited to: Virtualization and Virtual Machines (VMware), database services (server and server less), container platforms, storage and backup solutions. Partially support Network connectivity within cloud environment.
– Perform operational tasks within corporate-wide Cloud environment and help in the implementation of proof of concepts of future Cloud infrastructure services in alignment with Enterprise architecture and service owner
– Perform tasks and activities with minimal oversight in a team environment; interact regularly with team members, principal investigators and project managers.
– Work with other Service and System Owners to develop next generation of working environment with regards to cloud computing future hybrid, on prem and cloud based data center models.
– Work with Project Teams to initiate the project delivery for the implementation of future services
– Drive analysis and continuous improvement for respective service area
– Serve as the third line of escalation support for given technology issues that cannot be resolved by tier one or two support.
– Monitor group incident and request queues, alert notices and other work request streams for new notifications.
– Act as an on-call agent for team in specified rotation.
– Identify, diagnose and correct problems related to Cloud related services being run by the department.
– Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all resources. Design and implement monitoring policies.
– Initiate support tickets with service providers to resolve issues and hardware failures or related to hardware maintenance contracts.
– Maintain updated documentation of all in-progress and completed requests in appropriate systems as required by team management.
Working experience & expertise:
– A minimum of 3 years experience in Cloud and on premise solutions on L3 support Level.
Technical skills: required
– Strong administrative (operational) experience in cloud services and infrastructures, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
– Hands on experience in management of public cloud platforms Azure or AWS.
– Working knowledge of PaaS and IaaS services available on either of cloud platforms listed.
– Architectural level knowledge and cloud financial knowledge is a plus.
– Working knowledge is preferred in at least one of the following related-skillsets: NoSQL Databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis..ETL pipeline development (Nifi, Kafka, Cloudera..), container technologies and micro services (Docker, Kubernetes)
– Technical knowledge in server setup, cloud services and management across multiple environments – desktop, cluster, cloud, etc.
– preferred experience with Microsoft Windows server administration and configuration
– preferred experience in modern virtual infrastructure (VMware preferred), Security, Backup and Restore or Storage knowledge is a plus
– Ability to work in multi vendor environment, with different support modes and models.
– Ability to work with different service management / ticketing tools
– Prior experience with ITIL processes, especially with Incident, Change and Problem management
– knowledge of production companies structure with support distributed across multiple locations around the globe.
Technical skills: optional
– Technology related certification desirable (AWS / Azure / Microsoft)

– Good communication skills, both written and verbal and strong service orientation
– Fluent in English (German is a plus)
– ITIL Knowledge on Foundation Level
– Some travel within EMEA expected ca. 10-15% yearly
